Why have consumers opposed, postponed, and rejected Innovations during a pandemic? A Study of mobile payment Innovations

The highly infectious nature of the COVID-19 virus has made use contactless payment methods a health exigency. Yet, consumers are resisting using mobile payments (m-payments) during pandemic, confounding behavior that needs to be better understood. present study explicates this by examining consumer resistance m-payments pandemic. In addition, it provides more granular findings measuring three levels resistance/non-adoption, namely, postponement, opposition, and rejection. way, adds depth literature, which largely examined at an aggregate level yield generic findings. Toward end, draws upon Innovation Resistance Theory (IRT) propose usage, value, risk, tradition, image barriers influence resistance/non-adoption differently. An artificial neural network analysis (ANN) data collected from 406 non-users confirmed five varies for resistance/non-adoption. results further suggest usage barrier is most significant contributor opposition rejection intentions toward m-payments, whereas influential postponement intentions. This thus makes useful contribution theory practice.
